BONNERS FERRY — A rash of burglaries occurred recently in Bonners Ferry and the area just south of the city limits. The Bonners Ferry Police Department and the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office have been working closely together on these investigations.

Sheriff’s Office Detectives were able to obtain two search warrants that were served on Feb. 27, on a vehicle and apartment in connection to the thefts.

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, several items that were identified as stolen have now been identified, and a suspect is in custody. The suspect was arrested by Boundary County Undersheriff Rich Stephens for possession of a controlled substance and driving on a suspended license.

The case is still under investigation pending formal charges being filed against the suspect.

“The detectives appreciated the cooperation of the victims that were able to provide clues that helped lead the detectives to the suspect,” said Boundary County Sheriff Dave Kramer.

Kramer praised the working relationship between the Bonners Ferry Police Department and the Boundary County Sheriff’s Office in tracking down and arresting people who are using and selling drugs, as well as those committing thefts. Kramer stated in the press release that it is a positive working relationship, as it should be, in looking out and protecting the community.

“I am extremely grateful to the detectives from the Sheriff’s Office and the officers from both departments,” said Kramer. “We have a great team serving Boundary County.”
