Edwards, Willis shine in District 1 all-star games

MULLAN — Kale Edwards of Coeur d’Alene High scored a game-high 21 points to lead the East past the West in the boys District 1 All-Star Game for area seniors at the Mullan Pavilion on Friday night.
Edwards, who has signed to play football at Montana, won the slam dunk contest at halftime of the boys game.
Wallace’s Zack Welch was named the game’s MVP, scoring 18 points for the East.
Gavven Desjarlais of Post Falls scored 19 points for the West.

MULLAN — Timberlake’s Karissa Willis scored a game-high 18 points for the West to earn MVP honors in the girls game.
Lakeside’s Tommia Pakootas won the girls 3-point competition with 8 out of 10, then beat Wallace’s Erik Brackebusch, who hit 7 of 10 in the boys competition, in a shootoff for the coed title. In the shootoff, Pakootas made 6 of 10, Brackebusch 5 of 10.
Emma Bristow of Kellogg scored 10 points for the East.
