GUNS: Failing our children
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 6 years, 9 months AGO
In Tuesday’s article, “HOUSE BILL 203 WOULD ALLOW CONCEALED WEAPONS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS,” Coeur d’Alene Education Association President Bruce Twitchell presented the following survey comment: “If the teacher that throws the EXPO markers out of anger/frustration has a firearm, who knows what could happen.”
Oh brother. I’ve long since postulated the motives behind objections to firearms, and gun control agendas, originate from three reasons:
1. They believe the state should wield absolute and unchallenged power, and armed individuals are a threat to this end.
2. They fear what they do not understand (i.e. firearms) and cannot accept not all violence is inherently evil (i.e. defending children from violent sociopaths).
3. They struggle with their own violent urges, or are terrified they have no self-control to resist these urges, and are convinced everyone else in society must have this same internal struggle.
This commenter clearly falls in the second and third categories. What is unbelievable, especially in Idaho, is the Idaho Sheriffs’ Association and Idaho Chiefs of Police Associated also falling in with this crowd. Preventing vetted and trained Enhanced CCWs from defending our precious children due to an agenda, ignorance or unwarranted fear is not only shameful, it’s reckless.
