Local teachers can take an introductory course next month aimed at giving them the tools to share the wonders of Idaho’s wildlife.

Fish and Game staff will host a Project WILD workshop for teachers and youth leaders April 26 from 4 to 9 p.m. and April 27 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds Wildlife Building.

Project WILD workshops teach educators fun and exciting ways to share wildlife concepts in the classroom. The activities develop awareness, knowledge and skills concerning the relationships between humans, wildlife and the natural world.

Each workshop includes activities and demonstrates techniques for integrating materials onto classrooms. The introductory workshop held in Coeur d’Alene will serve as a prerequisite for any of the specialized WILD classes.

Space is limited to 30 participants. Pre-registration and a $40 course materials fee are required to hold a spot. Participants receive an activity guide and an aquatic guide for the $40 materials fee. Optional college credit is available from Boise State University or Northwest Nazarene University.
