Alzheimer's forum Monday
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 5 years, 10 months AGO
The Alzheimer’s Association is hosting a free community forum at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library to discuss the disease and other related dementias from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday. This is an opportunity for residents of all ages to come together to ask questions about the disease, share their personal experiences, learn about available resources and discover volunteer opportunities to support those affected by the disease.
“No individual or family should navigate the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease alone,” said Joel Loiacono, the Alzheimer’s Association’s director for North Idaho. “We want to hear from the community about what service gaps they’ve seen and to talk about how we can work together to make sure those needs are met.”
More than 5.8 million Americans have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in the United States. In Idaho alone, there are roughly 26,000 people living with Alzheimer’s disease, and that number is expected to increase 27 percent by 2025.
