On Sunday, March 3, 2019, John Oliver Tingley Jr. passed away at the age of 84 after a short illness.

John was born November 10, 1934, in Havre, Mont., to John and Nellie Tingley. He joined the Navy in 1952 and was a Korean War veteran, having spent eight years active service. He had received the National Defense, Korean Service, United Nations, and Good Conduct medals, and Korean Presidential Citation.

He was a qualified expert marksman in the Navy. He was elected a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and was a post commander, Bayview VFW. He spent many years working in the gold and silver mining and logging industry in British Columbia, Alaska, Montana and his big love, North Idaho. He moved to Clark Fork, Idaho, many years ago and spent time in Bonner County Search and Rescue where he made many lifelong friends.

Many thanks to his very close friends Bob, Teresa, Tiffany and Tabitha VanBuren and Tim and Brenda Allen of Clark Fork, who looked after John in his later years, and all the other friends he made over the years, too numerous to name.

John is survived by his sister, Sheri (Tingley) Allotta, whom he loved dearly, and her husband (little brother) Ron Allotta of Lacey, Wash.

Service will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at 21702 W. Espanola Road, Medical Lake, WA.
