Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 5 years, 10 months AGO
A 54-year-old Coeur d’Alene man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on the Rathdrum Prairie.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office reports Mark S. Lopp was in the Kootenai Health ICU on Wednesday night. Also hospitalized was his passenger, Pete P. Pesetti, 47, of Rathdrum, although the Sheriff’s Office reported his injuries are not life-threatening.
Lopp was driving a 1982 Toyota pickup north on North Meyer Road at 2:45 p.m. when he allegedly failed to yield from the stop sign at Hayden Road, KCSO reported. He began a left turn onto Hayden Avenue and pulled directly into the path of a Kootenai Electric Coorporative line truck traveling east on Hayden.
The KEC truck, driven by Clint L. Ducken, 35, of Sandpoint, was pulling a lowboy trailer with a backhoe. Ducken was uninjured in the crash, KCSO reported.
Kootenai County Fire and EMS also reported to the scene of the crash, with the intersection closed for several hours while KCSO’s Crash Investigation Team processed the scene.
There were no initial signs of impairment for either driver and speed does not appear to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation, KCSO reported.
