Police have secured an area of Tubbs Hill in downtown Coeur d’Alene, where a hiker found a bone Thursday.

Coeur d’Alene Police Capt. Dave Hagar said the bone appears to be a human femur, but more investigation is required.

“We are working with the Kootenai County Coroner’s Office and their network of experts to confirm this,” Hagar said. “Due to the terrain and vegetation, it will take an extended period of time to ensure we have conducted a thorough examination of the area.”
