Kootenai boys, Wallace girls win NSL track titles

HARRISON FLATS — Garrett Renner won in the discus, high jump, long jump and triple jump to lead the Kootenai boys to its first North Star League title since 2016.

Kootenai scored 99 points, beating Wallace, which finished with 72 points.

Wallace’s Maggie Howard won in the shot put and discus, leading the Miners to a third straight girls team title.

COEUR d’ALENE — Coeur d’Alene swept in boys doubles, clinching the match on a win by Wes Sando and Justin Jaworski in straight sets to beat Lewiston 7-5 at Coeur d’Alene High on Tuesday.

“Our doubles teams played really well today,” Coeur d’Alene boys coach Dan O’Connor said. “We put a couple of combinations together that hadn’t played together, and they did really well.”

Guillermo Fernandez and Kobie DeLeonard won in three sets for Coeur d’Alene.

Madi Whittemore and Miarrah Piazza won in girls singles for Coeur d’Alene, which faces Lake City on Thursday. The boys will host Lake City, while the girls play at Lake City High starting at 3 p.m.

“It was great to pick up a win against Lewiston,” Coeur d’Alene girls coach Laura Taylor said. “Kim (Gunnerson) and Maggie (Bloom) played with some authority and Kim’s forehand was on fire. It was fun to watch.”

Olson, Marchand win at Lakeside invite

WORLEY — Kadin Olson of St. Maries and Brooklyn Marchand of Lakeside earned medalist honors in Monday’s Lakeside Invitational at Circling Raven Golf Club late Monday.

Olson shot a 79 to beat Clark Fork’s Cole Reuter by a stroke for the boys title.

Marchand won by three strokes over Lewiston’s Ellen Wagner-Uhling with a 95.

Both St. Maries (boys) and Lakeside (girls) won team titles.
