The Wildkats softball team maintained its tie with Polson for the top spot in the Northwest A Conference last week, picking up a 22-0 win over conference foe Browning and going 2-2 in non-conference matchups.

The Kats opened the week with a 9-0 loss at home to AA Glacier Tuesday as the team managed just two hits against the Lady Wolfpack pitching. The Kats trailed just 3-0 through three innings, but gave up six more runs over the final four.

Trista Cowan and Chloe Kienas had the only hits for the Kats in the loss.

The Kats bounced back in a big way against conference foe Browning Thursday as they cruised past the Lady Indians in just four innings, 22-0.

Kaylee Ashe was a perfect 3-3 at the plate in the contest while Ryley Kehr and Savvy Ellis both went 2-3. Ashe and Kehr also recorded doubles in the win while Ellis picked up the victory in the pitching circle.

The Kats picked up a pair of non-conference wins to open the Frenchtown Tournament Friday, downing Corvallis 11-6 and Loyola Sacred Heart 19-7.

Alyssa Blankenship homered and had two RBIs to lead the Kats in their win over Corvallis while Jazzy Marino recorded a pair of hits and also drove in two runs. McKenna Rensel also drove in two run while Ashe and Kehr both had doubles and drove in one run each.

The Kats trailed Sacred Heart 4-1 after one inning but rallied with a nine-run third inning on their way to a 12-run victory. Starting pitcher Ellis homered twice and drove in four runs to help her own cause while Isabel Johnson also brought home four runs.

The Kats came up short in their final game of the tourney, falling to Stevensville 14-4.

Cowan had a double in the loss and drove in all four Wildkat runs. Ashe, Blankenship, Johnson and Graceanne Sevesind also had hits in the loss.

The team will be back in action this week as they play at Ronan Thursday before hitting the road again to take on Browning Tuesday.
