ST. IGNATIUS High School is in the running for first place in the Vans Custom Culture Shoe Customization Contest. See the story for information about the custom skull.

St. Ignatius School District 28 hosted its annual Community Showcase last Thursday, April 25.

The afternoon began with a dinner in the all-purpose room, prepared and served by Food Services Director Wendy Weider, cook Candice Garner and Grab N Go coordinator Val Dillard.

There were art project displays throughout the elementary and middle schools, and art activities for family members.

There was also a shop project display in the high school main entrance.

Also featured were library book drawings, and senior project presentations.

School district presentation topics included Maker Space/STEAM; College and Career Readiness; Senior Project; Infinite Campus, Apptegy and School Web Page; Personal Finance; School Facilities Bond and InterCap Update; Tour of Montana; Changes for MBI to PSI; School Clubs and Activities; College Scholarships; and Reporting Changes: Process, Progress and Product.

A buzz, especially around the high school, is about the Vans Custom Culture Shoe Customization Contest, in which St. Ignatius High School is a semifinalist for top honors. The winning show will become part of the Vans athletic shoe, or sneaker, line.

The St. Ignatius entry and a custom cow skull, made out of two sneakers, are in the school’ display case. The shoe and skull are pictured at upper right.

To conclude the Community Showcase, high school students who received academic scholarships to colleges and universities signed their award acceptance letters with their parents.
