Wrestlers clean up at freestyle tournament

BONNERS FERRY — Bonners Ferry Wrestling Club had a strong day at the USA Idaho State Greco/freestyle tournament, bringing home 22 out of 24 possible medals.

Kyle Smith won first in both matches, Marcus Regehr won first and second, Dalton Regehr got first and second, Andrew Sandelin won second and first, Eli Richards second and second, Evan Barajas third and fourth, Austin Madden fifth and fifth, Shaylynn Richards fourth and fourth, K.J. Johansen second and second, Jackson Rickter third and third and Jake Summerfield fourth and fourth, Spencer Eby also wrestled tough but did not place.

“I gotta add that eight of these wrestlers were on our high school wrestling team that won the IML league championship, five freshmen and three sophomores,” said Coach Cory Richards.
