Sandpoint falls to Post Falls on Trojans' senior day, 9-3

POST FALLS — Gonzaga signee Jacob Rutherford went 2 for 3 with a three-run double in the second inning on senior day, and also struck out two in pitching the final inning of relief in the Trojans’ nonleague victory over the Bulldogs (7-14).
Jacob Burton went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs for Post Falls (6-13). Cole Rutherford went 2 for 3 and scored three runs for the Trojans, and senior Cabe Misita went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Senior Austin Higgins made a nice catch in right field to save two runs.
Max Thielbahr and Connor Dodd each had two hits for Sandpoint.
Sandpoint will play Moscow in the loser-out game of the 4A District 1 baseball tournament, held at Lakeland High School next Monday, May 6.
