Local student granted $26K FIRST scholarship

Austin Huang, co-captain of FTC robotics team No. 6088, The I-Bots, was the recipient of a FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) $26,000 scholarship.
Austin has served many roles on the team; as lead electrical, mechanical designer, and as a driver of the robot. He has maintained a 3.89 GPA throughout his years at Classical Christian Academy. As well as participating on the I-Bots robotic team, Austin has also participated on the soccer team and in student government.
In support of the FIRST mission, Seattle Pacific University offers two merit-based scholarships of $5,000 to high school seniors who have participated on a FIRST team during their junior or senior year. The scholarship may be used for any undergraduate course of study at SPU. The scholarship is renewable up to a total of $20,000 over four years, contingent upon maintaining good academic standing. Each recipient must meet the regular academic requirements for admission to the university.
Austin also received the Director’s Scholarship at SPU of $1,500 per year, up to $6,000.
