Rebecca (Becky) June Karr Nault
Becky Karr, 66 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 22, 2018, in the home of a dear friend in Prince George, British Columbia. Becky was born in Alhambra, Calif., on June 17, 1952, to Ray and Marie (Rupe) Karr. She completed the family of four girls.
In 1953, the family left sunny, southern California for a farm at the end of the bus route in Post Falls, Idaho. Marie drove the school bus (an old green Chevrolet station wagon with a homemade rear seat) and Becky sat in the back while Marie picked up students, dropping the students off at the old Greensferry Bridge.
Becky loved the farm, with all the animals and sisters running here and there. The ol’ outhouse and goat barn were trouble from the first sighting. One of her fondest memories was her parents paying the girls 1 cent for each mullein weed tugged from the hilly ground and pulled back to the house in the red wagon.
In 1961, the family moved to a large farm on Meadowbrook in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Ray and Marie grew and sold hay on acres as a “hobby” so the girls could feed their animals. Becky’s favorite was a red chestnut Arab named Red Mike. Summers were spent completing 4-H projects, feeding animals, sleeping in the apple orchard in a tent during the gardening, traveling to Spokane to pick up Grandma Rupe from the train station and the ‘regular’ chores. Becky’s strong work ethic and character developed early. Maybe it was being one of the little kids, maybe it just was.
Becky attended Sherman Elementary School and the Ninth Grade Center. Ray got the bug to move to a more rural area and the family found themselves buying a small cabin on the south side of Takysie Lake in British Columbia in 1967. Becky needed to board in Burns Lake to complete her high school years, coming home only on weekends. It was a hard adjustment. Becky graduated in 1970, married Ed Nault and had her first daughter, Lana, all in a year. Two years later, Kim completed Ed and Beck’s family. Ed and Beck were divorced. She worked at Burns Lake Auto Parts until her marriage to Bob Peterson. They then worked as a team for the Lakes District Maintenance Department, traveling through the province maintaining properties. Bob and Beck were divorced in 2014. She returned to Burns Lake Auto Parts where she worked until her passing.
Becky’s family that met her in heaven were father, Ray Karr; mother, Marie Saunders; stepfather, Clarence Saunders and sister, Debby Shively. Becky is survived by her sisters, Kathy (Denny) Hall of Cocolalla, Idaho, and Sandy (Ron) Riggs of Coeur d’Alene; brother-in-law Ron Shively; children, Lana (Eric) Williams of Burns Lake and Kim (Benny) Wiebe of Burns Lake; stepchildren, Jenny Amstutz and Juline Peterson; grandchildren, Shyla Nault, Hope Gillies, Tim Pittock, Becca Wiebe, Matthew Wiebe, and Jerney Williams, all of Burns Lake, and great-granddaughter, Rhyle Jo Perry. Her life was made richer by Margaret Carley, her best friend, and her constant doggie companions.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Canadian Legion, Burns Lake, BC, Canada VOJ IEO.
