TWIN FALLS — Sandpoint girls golf arrived at the 4A State Tournament with fresh faces, no state experience and as relative-unknowns to their southern counterparts.

Two days later, the Bulldogs will make a long, yet jubilant trek home with a third-place trophy and a state medal.

“[As] coaches, we’re content,” Sandpoint golf head coach Michael Deprez wrote in a text. “The girls are hungry and gaining resolve for 2020.”

Unlike most season finales that Sandpoint golf has endured over the past few years, the Bulldogs will take solace in the fact that all five members of the girls’ golf team will return next season. The team will build around sophomores Hattie Larson and CeCe Deprez, both of whom the Bulldogs again on day two.

In particular, Larson finished with a 170 to place ninth overall. In her coach’s eyes, Larson’s finish was indicative of the competitive spirit she brought to the course all season.

“Hattie brings the best competitive mindset out there on the course,” Deprez said. “She’s extremely competitive and always ready to put in the time to make it to the next level.”

Sandpoint managed to hold off nearly everyone from a close field, save for Middleton, which used a second-day surge to best the Bulldogs by 23 strokes, 709-723.

Host team Twin Falls won with a 667.
