SANDPOINT — Bonner County commissioners, department heads and members of the public paused on Tuesday to offer prayers and well wishes to Commissioner Steven Bradshaw, who has fallen ill.

Dave VanNatter asked for a moment of silence for the stricken District 1 commissioner who was sworn into office earlier this year. VanNatter said Bradshaw has a blocked artery in his liver, which is threatening the life of the commissioner, who also serves as pastor of the Cocolalla Cowboy Church.

“Keep him in your prayers. It’s extremely serious,” VanNatter said during the commission’s business meeting.

VanNatter said doctors are attempting to dissolve the blockage because it threatens to cause even more health problems if it remains in place.

“Right now, they’re hoping for the best,” said VanNatter.

The room fell silent as VanNatter offered a brief prayer to the Lord on behalf of Bradshaw.

“You’re the one that can make your glory shine through him,” VanNatter said during the prayer.

Bradshaw was listed in good condition at Kootenai Health, Andrea Nagel, a communications specialist at the Coeur d’Alene hospital, said on Tuesday.

Bradshaw, who campaigned on a pledge to represent Bonner County taxpayers, won the GOP nomination for the District 1 seat in the 2018 primary election and prevailed during the subsequent general election.

He took the oath of office in January.
