May 19, 1969 — NEW VETERINARIAN

Pend Oreille Veterinary Service, Sandpoint, will soon have a third full-time veterinarian, Donald McCormick, who will receive his doctorate in veterinary medicine from Washington State University in June.

Mrs. McCormick is resigning her position as Whitman County extension agent in order to accompany her husband to Sandpoint. Both she and Dr. McCormick are graduates of Montana State University at Bozeman.

BROWNIES ENTERTAIN WOTM

Preceding Thursday’s meeting of the Women of the Moose, the lodge-sponsored Brownie Troop No. 378 provided entertainment. Troop members present were Carolyn Greenwood, Amy Whalen, Teresa Goodsen, Roxann Nordgaarden, Francie Ruyle, Christine Baker, Julie Gutenberger, Leisa Lewis and Torrie Nordgaarden. Patty Brown and Jaylin Collins were absent. Troop leaders are Mrs. Leon Lewis and Mrs. Donald Baker.

MRS. CARL BERGSTROM NOTES 80TH

Mrs. Carl Bergstrom was pleasantly surprised on May 7, when her daughter, Mrs. Duane Hadley, and several friends dropped in to help her celebrate her 80th birthday. The ladies brought a potluck luncheon for the occasion.

Guests included Mrs. Cornelius DeVries, Mrs. Paul Delamarter and Mrs. Joe Ross.

May 19, 1919 — CITY BREVITIES

Miss Hazel Keller left the Central hospital Tuesday after nearly four months’ illness following an attack of the influenza. She is making her home with her sister, Mrs. Clifford Reese.

The city bridge and dock committee decided to replank a portion of the city dock, laying a double track the entire length. This will require 34,000 feet of plank and it is expected to have the lumber delivered in time to complete the work in June.

The Berry bungalow on (420) Anton (sic) street was recently sold to J.R. Adam.

Geo. Chamberlain’s home, (514) S. Euclid, was sold this week to John Peters of King Iron works.

A girl was born Monday to Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Bergdahl.

GOOD DEMAND FOR LUMBER

The Humbird Lumber company reports the best demand for lumber it has enjoyed since the government lifted the lumber embargo with the closing of the war. The Sandpoint sawmill is producing 150,000 daily in an 8-hour shift.

NEW SCHOOL BUILDING AT CLARKSFORK

Arrangements are underway at Clarksfork for construction of a fine new school building, the site for which has been selected. The brick school will cost in the neighborhood of $40,000. Bonds were voted yesterday at an election.
