BONNERS FERRY — For the readers who look over the sports section, they may have noticed many mentions of Seth Bateman and his cousin Ty Bateman. Both boys have been involved in various sports throughout the years, excelling in all of them.

As Seth Bateman’s senior year as a Badger comes to a close, his teammates will miss him in the coming seasons. This past baseball season, Seth Bateman was named the Intermountain League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) along with Timberlake’s Jack McDonald.

“Seth Bateman has been a tremendous asset to the Badger Baseball program over the past four years and is deserving of this great award,” said Bonners Ferry High School Baseball Coach Tom Turpin. “Seth has been our cornerstone this season as we rebuild and will be missed next year.”

Ty Bateman is wrapping up his junior year and moving on to his senior year, bringing the Badger teams another year of strong hits. He was named to the IML All-League Baseball Team.

“Ty Bateman was our best pitcher and probably the hardest hitter we had on the team,” said Turpin. “He is very passionate about competing and works hard to excel. Being selected as an All-League player for the IML is a great honor and we look forward to his leadership next year.”

As Badger athletes move on with their lives and careers, local residents will have the opportunity to watch the next upcoming generation excel and move forward with their goals.
