Fleming helps Prairie notch first win

POST FALLS — Matt Fleming went 4 for 4 and drove in five runs as the Prairie Cardinals picked up their first victory of the season, a 12-5 win over the Eastside Dodgers at a Memorial Day tournament at Post Falls High.

Earlier Sunday, the Cardinals lost 15-2 to the Spokane Expos 19U.

Against Eastside, Fleming hit a sacrifice fly in the first inning, RBI singles in the second and fourth, an RBI double in the sixth and an run-scoring single in the seventh. Brock Zeller went 4 for 5 and scored four runs for Prairie.

Prairie is scheduled to conclude tourney play today against an opponent to be announced.

MISSOULA, Mont. — David Kraak struck out six in six innings for Coeur d’Alene in a win over Butte at Osprey Field at the Missoula Mavericks Memorial Day Tournament.

Jake Brown and Alex Karns each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Lumbermen, who went on to lose 8-0 to the host Missoula Mavericks later Sunday night.

The Lums (1-2) are slated to face Vauxhall Academy this morning at the tourney.
