COEUR d’ALENE — Bryson Smith of Jackson, Wyo., won the 42nd annual Coeur d’Alene Marathon on Sunday, finishing in a time of 2 hours, 44 minutes, 49 seconds on the 26.2-mile course which began and ended at McEuen Park downtown.

Dan Yovichin of Coeur d’Alene was second in 2:49:08, and Andrew Griffin of Greenacres, Wash., was third in 2:51:33.

Danielle Parks of Coeur d’Alene was the top female finisher in 3:11:55. Parks, who was second last year after winning the women’s marathon in 2017, was the seventh overall finisher in the marathon on Sunday.

Matthew Handwerk of Coeur d’Alene won the half-marathon in 1:19:26.

Lindsay Lange of Chewelah, Wash., was the top female finisher in 1:32:27.

Officials were still trying to sort out the actual order of finish in the 5k and 10k races, as an issue with some runners heading off course messed up the timing of the races. Officials said results of those races would be updated when all was sorted out.
