ROYAL CITY — K-9 Grizzly helped take down an alleged vehicle thief in Royal City last week.
Grant County deputies received the stolen vehicle report out of the Moses Lake area. Deputies later learned the vehicle was equipped with an OnStar locater, which indicated the vehicle was being driven south on Dodson Road near Road 11 Southwest. The vehicle was tracked to Royal City, where the driver, alleged to be Ubaldo Valdez Moreno, drove around a few neighborhoods before Deputy Dave De La Rosa found the vehicle parked in an alley between Fern Street Northeast and Grape Street Northeast.
Moreno reportedly exited the vehicle and started walking toward De La Rosa and refused to stop. K-9 Grizzly was deployed and was able to latch on to Moreno’s arm and take him to the ground.
Moreno was booked into the Grant County Jail for suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of methamphetamine.
