UPDATE at 2:55 p.m.: Pachyderm President Bob Brooke now says the club is cancelling its regular meeting tomorrow, as well.

***

North Idaho Pachyderm’s president, Bob Brooke, just issued the following press release. Brittany Pettibone had been the scheduled speaker Friday morning in Coeur d’Alene. The Press has also been told that a planned rally against hate speech outside the restaurant where Pettibone was scheduled to speak will go on.

In response to multiple requests for comment regarding why Miss Brittany Pettibone’s presentation at the North Idaho Pachyderm Club was cancelled, it is because she requested it. She has had a longstanding policy not to speak to the press. She had prior reason to believe that she would be speaking privately at a private meeting. When she learned on good authority that members of the press and particularly the broadcast media might not respect her policy, she informed me on Wednesday that she would not be speaking.
