PRIEST RIVER — Acclaimed author Emily Ruskovich will be featured on this Friday’s episode of “Dialogue,” Idaho Public Television has announced.

Ruskovich, author of the award-winning novel “Idaho,” is an assistant professor in the Department of Theatre, Film & Creative Writing at Boise State University. “Idaho” is based on the landscape of Ruskovich’s childhood on remote Hoodoo Mountain in Bonner County. The story involves a mysterious murder of a young girl by her own mother, and the efforts of the father’s new wife to try and untangle what may have happened.

Ruskovich also reflects on the process of writing “Idaho,” which won the International Dublin Literary Award this year.

The Dublin Literary Award judging panel called the book “a masterpiece on the redeeming and regenerative potential of music, poetry, literature and art.”

“Dialogue” host Marcia Franklin caught up with Ruskovich for an episode of Conversations from the Sun Valley Writer’s Conference.

“Dialogue” airs at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1. The Dialogue interview airs again Sunday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. and will available for streaming at video.idahoptv.org.
