Nov. 5, 1969 — TROOP 168 HOLDS TEA

Brownie Troop 168 held an investiture tea last week. Troop members are Linda Carlson, Jody Paris, Julie Madsen, Christi Koski, Diane Plaster, Laurie Newton, Angie Nordgaarden, Leila Eaton, Tammie Howell, Lisa Webb, Wilma Buerge, and Doris Deden. Troop leaders are Mrs. Melvin Madsen and Mrs. Dave Downing.

Election of officers was held in the following rooms recently: Mrs. Miller’s 4th and 5th — Mike Thompson, president; Mona Heath, secretary; Marie Fillion, treasurer; Teresa Barnhart, librarian. Mr. Randolph’s 5th and 6th — Tom Clary, president; Linda Tarpley, vice president; Debbie Thompson, secretary; Aaron Heki, treasurer. Mr. Stoicheff’s 7th and 8th — Mike Phillips, president; Bonnie Beers, vice president; Trina Reubens, secretary-treasurer; Rita Smith, reporter.

Linda Nottingham broke her arm last week.

Paul Perry, who was recently discharged from the Army at Ft. Huachuca, Ariz., is touring the states with a friend from Pennsylvania. They arrived at Paul’s home Wednesday and will depart for the East in about a week for a stay in Pennsylvania and a business trip to Washington, D.C. Paul will fly back about Nov. 20.

Nov. 5, 1919 — NO EPIDEMIC

Reports of the widespread prevalence of diphtheria in this vicinity were discredited yesterday by Dr. Floyd Wendle, city health officer, who stated the disease had been successfully checked by quarantining the few cases in town.

PROCLAIMS ARMISTICE DAY

Governor D.W. Davis issued a proclamation at the request of the Idaho American legion, designating November 11 as Armistice day and a holiday throughout the state.

WAR MOTHERS MEETING

The American War Mothers will hold their regular monthly meeting at the G.A.R. hall (4th and Alder) at 2 o’clock next Wednesday.

CITY BREVITIES

Garner Aldrich, an old soldier of the civil war and member of the local Grand Army (G.A.R.) post, is reported very low as a result of a paralytic stroke sustained the first of the week.

EXCESS SUM GOES TO AMERICAN LEGION

The committee in charge of the $700 surplus from the July 11 celebration fund for returned service men voted to give the money to the local legion organization, the only condition being that it be used for furniture for the American Legion hall in the Walker basement at (212) N. First ave.
