Cummings heading to state in freestyle, backstroke events

COEUR d’ALENE — Bonners Ferry High School swimmer Julia Cummings competed at districts on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at The Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene, earning her shot to represent the Badgers at state.
Cummings placed second in the girls 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.20, a season best, and first in the girls 100-yard backstroke (1:01.87), a personal best time.
“Julia really showed up and performed at the meet, especially in the 100 Back.,” said coach Greg Jackson. “She was not fully rested for this meet, so it’ll be fun to see how she performs at state.”
Cummings is seeded fourth in the 50 Free and second in the 100 Back. She is the overall top 3A seed in the meet.
The state swim meet is this weekend in Boise.
