BLANCHARD — “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” presented by Out of the Woods Family Theater, will open Thursday evening.

This new dramatization of C.S. Lewis’ classic story, set in the land of Narnia, faithfully recreates the beauty and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, and his struggle with the White Witch.

Under the power of the White Witch, Narnia is a place that is “always winter but never Christmas.” When four children inadvertently wander into this magical land through an old wardrobe, they are unaware that they are fulfilling an ancient prophecy and jeopardizing the evil witch’s reign. Their arrival sets in motion chilling chases, nail-biting duels and narrow escapes, as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and prevent Aslan from taking his rightful place. This story of love, faith and courage, with its triumph of good over evil, is a true celebration of life.

The script was written by Joseph Robinette and distributed through Dramatic Publishing. Directed by Dee Ann Boydston, the cast includes 48 talented young actors from Blanchard, Rathdrum, Spirit Lake, Athol, Newport, Oldtown and Priest River. The intimate venue and delicious concessions make this the perfect event for a date night or family outing.

Performances will be held in the Blanchard Community Center, 685 Rusho Lane, Blanchard.

Show times are Nov. 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 16 and 17 at 3 p.m. Tickets are available at the door; adults are $5, youth are $3 and family rates are available. Doors open 30 minutes before curtain.

Sunday shows are usually standing-room-only, so plan to attend one of the earlier performances for the most comfortable viewing experience. See you in Narnia!
