MULLAN — Visiting Kendrick jumped out to a 28-0 lead after the first quarter on the way to an 84-36 win over Mullan-St. Regis in the state 1A Division II quarterfinals at John Drager Field.

Kendrick (9-1) will face Lighthouse Christian (9-0) in the semifinals next Saturday at Holt Arena in Pocatello.

“We played the worst quarter ever, and it happened to be the first quarter,” Mullan-St. Regis coach Stetson Spooner said. “Kendrick is a stout football team. They played hard, disciplined and good, clean football. Hats off to them. It was a heck of a season for our guys.”

Mullan-St. Regis — a co-op between schools separated by 45 miles and the Idaho/Montana border — finished 6-3. Mullan last made the playoffs in 2006.

“For two communities that were struggling to field a team, let alone win games and battle to win a league title and host a quarterfinal playoff game in little old Mullan is an amazing accomplishment and a very rewarding season,” Spooner said.

Skye Gallaway scored three touchdowns for Mullan-St. Regis.
