Victim of logging truck collision identified

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who died in a collision with a logging truck near Glacier Park International Airport on Friday,Nov. 8, as Jeffrey Louis Welle, 64, of Columbia Falls.

The collision occurred near the intersection of U.S. 2 and Wishart Road, when an eastbound logging truck struck a larger four-wheel all-terrain vehicle driven by Welle. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, Welle apparently pulled out in front of the logging truck while attempting to make a U-turn. The truck driver then tipped and spilled its load a distance away from the ATV.

The log-truck driver was not seriously injured.
