Supporting public schools and lifting up students and educators is absolutely essential for the future prosperity of Idaho. American Education Week is the ideal time to recognize our dedicated professional educators and focus our energies on policies and people that will benefit Idaho students and communities.

Join the Idaho Education Association in celebrating the many inspiring success stories in public education during this week’s American Education Week.

Several specific observations are included in American Education Week.

In addition to Parents Day, designated for today, November 19, to recognize the crucial role parents play in their children’s success, days are set for each day of the week including:

- Education Support Professionals Day — Wednesday, November 20. This day is set aside to recognize bus drivers, cafeteria workers, maintenance staff, clerical staff, para-professionals, and many other ESPs who are part of the team that prepares students for success.

- Educator for a Day — Thursday, November 21. Elected officials and community leaders are invited to participate in a hands-on school experience. The IEA will be coordinating some of these visits, and our local associations will also be working with leaders in their communities. Stay tuned for more details about related media opportunities.

- Substitute Educators Day — Friday, November 22. Recognition for substitute teachers.
