At 90 years young, Larsson fills his deer tag

For those lamenting their lack of success during this hunting season, they would do well to hear the story of Bob Larsson.
The 90-year-old St. Ignatius man recently filled a deer tag on Veteran’s Day when he bagged a big, dry white-tailed doe while hunting near Plains with his daughter Debbie and son Andy.
Larsson dropped the deer with a single shot from 240 yards with a 6.5 Creedmore.
His daughter Debbie emailed to say that “At 90 years of age, Bob Larsson still wants to hunt!”
Larsson has more than left his mark on the sport of hunting as he taught hunter education for more than 60 years since it began in Montana.
“Now my son and grandson both teach it and my 10-year-old great grandson also helps with classes even though he is too young to formally teach,” Larsson said.
Debbie explained that her dad is very thankful for the wonderful opportunities that Montana provides.
“I’m thankful to still be able to go out and hunt at 90,” Bob said. “I’m thankful the state has a great program for people with handicaps or disabilities that make this possible. I’m thankful for good landowner relationships that provide a good place to hunt. I’m thankful for family who will help me get out and go. I’m thankful to harvest a big dry doe, not impacting the population for next year.”
Bob said he left his house at 6 a.m., and was back home by 10 a.m. with his tag filled.
