Leata Louise Judd, 90, passed into the light on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at her home in Sandpoint, Idaho. A remembrance will be announced at a later date.

Leata was born on July 1, 1929, San Diego, California, to Roger and Jean Moore. She grew up in the mountains of Alpine, California, east of San Diego.

Leata married Tom L. Judd on March 25, 1950, in Alpine. They moved to Sandpoint in 1982.

Leata spent these past years volunteering at Lake Pend Oreille High School in Sandpoint. She taught art and enjoyed being the grandmother many didn’t have.

Leata was a role model and an incredible example to all she met. In these recent years she was awarded Woman of Wisdom and Artist/Teacher of the Year. She was also the 2017 Festival at Sandpoint poster artist.

A true gift to all. She was mother to Thomas (Karen) Judd of Hillsboro, Ore., Jerry (Daris) Judd of Sagle, Idaho, David (Nickie) Judd of Alpine, and Jodie (Craig) Gow of Santee, Calif. Leata was an inspiration to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a true spirit of joy and life. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, Tom who passed in 2011; and one sister, Betty Jean Isaacs.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. Please visit Leata’s online memorial at lakeviewfuneral.com and sign her guest book.
