At Whitefish, the visiting Chiefs discovered that Dawg Devin Beale was the real deal as he bulled his way for four scores at their expense. After Beale double dipped into the end zone in the first quarter, Ronan countered with an 11-yard Eric Dolence pass to Matt Victor that put the Chiefs on the scoreboard and pulled them within a single possession.

But the middle quarters were unkind to the Chiefs as Whitefish tallied on multiple possessions while they denied Ronan from crafting comparable counters.

Ronan managed to outscore their hosts in the final frame when Dolence connected with Victor twice. The Chiefs played the Bulldogs stride for stride during bookend frames, but the empty shelves in the middle left too much of the story to be written by their hosts.

Ronan will travel to SWA Stevensville this week where both teams will battle it out in an effort to secure their first win of the season.

Head coach Matt Detwiler noted that the Chiefs will need to step up their level of play to ameliorate a bit of a dip experienced against Whitefish.

“We have a great opportunity this week to get a victory,” Detwiler said.

Pirate plaque preference Burger-larized by Bulldogs

At Smith Fields in Whitefish for the 2018 State A boys soccer championship, the Polson Pirates and the Northern A conference champion Bulldogs would put on quite a show in an energetic quest to claim the coveted state A crown last Saturday. This would be just the third foray to the championship match in the history of the Pirate boys’ soccer program, who hoped that the idiomatic expression “third time’s a charm” would play out in Polson’s favor.
