Organ Plus Instruments concert is Sunday
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 5 years, 3 months AGO
COEUR d'ALENE — The Community United Methodist Church is partnering with the Spokane Chapter of the American Guild of Organists to present the Organ Plus Instruments concert Sunday at 3 p.m.
Sixteen youth and adult organists, pianists and instrumentalists will appear in a variety of configurations, including violin and organ, four-hands organ, three cellos and piano, viola and organ, harp and organ, flute and organ, and solo organ.
These enthusiastic performers will perform on, or be accompanied by, Community United Methodist Church’s historic pipe organ which was refurbished and reinstalled by Marceau and Associates of Seattle in 2018. The organ includes nearly 1,600 pipes, some of which date back to the Coeur d’Alene congregation’s earliest organ, originally built in 1909.
The public is invited to attend. There is plenty of off-street parking and no admission will be charged.
“We had a surprisingly huge turnout when we had a concert a year ago, over 300 people of all ages, and we were so thrilled,” said Valerie Wilcox, who handles advertising and publicity for Community United Methodist Church. “We’re sure this will bring even more people with the variety of instruments that people will be able to hear. The partnership between the Spokane group and ours is wonderful as well.”
