Andreas ‘Andy’ Reich, 91

Andreas “Andy” Reich, beloved husband, father and grandfather, left this world to be with our Lord on Sept. 12, 2019. Andy was born July 20, 1928, to Jacobina and Andreas Reich, in Wishek, N.D. He was the middle child out of 14 children and was the last surviving sibling.

Andy grew up working the family farm in North Dakota and then moved to Billings, Mont. There, he “amended his birth certificate” so he could join the Army to fight for our country in the Korean War. For his service he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal, the Republic of Korea President Unit Citation and the National Service Medal. He was known to say that the coldest winter he ever spent was in Korea — this from someone who grew up in North Dakota and Montana!

His other statement to his friends was that “the happiest day of his life” was when he married his wife, Marjorie. They were married for 65 years.

Andy had a wonderful sense of humor and remembered hundreds of jokes and told them hilariously. His other wonderful qualities were his humility, his kindness and generosity; he never said a negative thing about anyone.

Andy is survived by his wife, Marjorie; daughter, Mary Beth (John) Dixon and granddaughter, Danielle Andrea Dixon.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 12, 2019, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1700 E. Pennsylvania Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
