Tigers topple Hawks in rivalry tilt

RATHDRUM — Senior quarterback Joey Follini scored on a 4-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give Timberlake the lead for good as the visiting Tigers beat the Lakeland Hawks 27-14 in a nonleague matchup between districts rivals at Corbit Field on Friday.

Lakeland quarterback Brandon Furey threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns, hitting Colton Boettcher on a 21-yard score in the first quarter and Ezra Grigg on a 48-yard score in the fourth quarter.

It was 3A Timberlake’s first win over 4A Lakeland since 2015, and only the second over the Hawks in the last 10 tries.

Timberlake (5-0) travels to Bonners Ferry next Friday in the Intermountain League opener for both schools.

Lakeland (2-3) hosts West Valley next Friday.
