COEUR d’ALENE — After a scoreless first half, the second 45 minutes came down to attention to detail.

“We made a couple of fouls in the wrong spots on the field,” North Idaho College men’s soccer coach Ken Thompson said after his team fell 2-0 to the visiting Community Colleges of Spokane on Saturday at Eisenwinter Field. “Spokane was pretty disciplined in their set pieces.”

Brennan Murphy and David Uribe scored goals for Spokane (6-2-2, 3-0-2 NWAC), which is tied with Wenatchee Valley for the East Region lead with 11 points.

NIC (4-5-2, 2-3-1, 7 points) was without Mac Stultz and Shane Watkins, who received red cards in the match vs. Columbia Basin on Sept. 28 and had to sit out Saturday’s match.

“We had some trouble getting the ball into the attacking third, and you’d expect that,” Thompson said. “We’ll get them back on Friday and we’re still in control of our destiny.”

NIC hosts Treasure Valley on Friday.
