Two days of running events marked the Whitefish Legacy Partners races on Saturday and Sunday.

Ninety runners participated in the new 50k Mountain Ultramarathon on Saturday morning beginning at Depot Park and climbing to the summit of Big Mountain.

Drew Coco of Whitefish was the top male racer with a time of 3:59.22. Renee Freeman of Bozeman was the top female runner finishing with a time of 5:17:16.

The 50-kilometer course climbs the new section of Whitefish Trail in Haskill Basin, and connects all the way to the summit of Big Mountain on Whitefish Mountain Resort and Flathead National Forest trails. Runners then returned to downtown via the Flower Point Loop, Danny On Trail, and the Whitefish Trail in Haskill.

On Sunday, the Legacy Run event included a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and family fun run. Starting and ending at the Whitefish Bike Retreat, more than 300 runners got the chance explore the Whitefish Trail around Beaver Lakes during the race.

The Whitefish Trail is the anchor project of Whitefish Legacy Partners and includes 42 miles of trails and 12 trailheads. For more information, visit www.whitefishlegacy.org or call 406-862-3880.
