COEUR D’ALENE — Sandpoint volleyball lost 19-25, 20-25, 7-25 Tuesday night at Coeur d’Alene.

The Bulldogs (5-9) have now lost seven straight regular season matches and they only have three left before postseason play.

Sandpoint volleyball head coach Karen Alsager said Coeur d’Alene played like one of the best teams they’ve faced all season.

“They hit the ball hard and they passed really well,” Alsager said. “We fought really hard in the second game just blocked, served hard. The second game was just beautiful but we couldn’t sustain it.”

Alsager said the Vikings’ setter gave them problems all night.

“I think when the other team came out they passed so well they could run any part of their offense,” she said, “and we were noticing that if the setter got the ball in her pocket that she could do anything she wanted as far as who she wanted to set so that makes it really hard to block and dig.”

Senior outside hitter Katie Korn led the Bulldogs with six kills and two aces and junior Bella Phillips had six blocks.

Junior Kinzie Ward finished with 11 digs and junior setter Kaylee Banks added eight set assists.

The Sandpoint JV 2 team did manage to beat Coeur d’Alene to claim its second straight win over a 5A school.

The Bulldogs will remain on the road to face Lakeland at 7 p.m. Thursday.

“I would say the hardest part for us right now is keeping our mental attitude positive,” Alsager said. “It’s hard for any team when they’re losing to come back every practice and every match and still practice and play hard. That’s going to be our challenge.”
