One man is dead and another is behind bars after a shooting in Ronan Tuesday afternoon.

According to information from Lake County Sheriff Don Bell, 78-year-old James S. Deaton was arrested under suspicion of homicide in the shooting death of Jim E. Lewis, 65, at a residence on Parizeau Lane.

Bell said the shooting occurred at 4:16 p.m. Tuesday inside the home where the two men lived.

The initial call came in as an accidental shooting, but when Lake County Sheriff’s Office officers investigated they began a homicide investigation.
