The Whitefish School District is expanding one of its in-town bus routes to accommodate students going to after-school programs at The Wave.

The Whitefish School Board on Oct. 8 voted to expand bus route No. 9 in the afternoon by roughly a mile at no additional cost to the district.

The new route will follow the same route as before, but instead of stopping at Baker Avenue to finish the route, the bus will now go the extra mile and drop students off at the four-way stop next to The Wave and Safeway.

Students can walk down the sidewalk from the bus stop and will be greeted by workers at The Wave, Whitefish Middle School Principal Josh Branstetter said.
