Stable funding benefits students, taxpayers alike

Here are the reasons I am supporting stable funding for the Lake Pend Oreille School District.

Not every student will go to college, but because of the levy, we can have CTE classes working on real-life projects. We have high school graduates getting good paying jobs out of high school in welding, IT support and health care. These programs wouldn’t exist without the levy.

Students in athletics have been working hard this summer raising money for their sports. Sports and activities build leadership, character and a desire to compete. The levy pays for the basics of these programs which are augmented by the students’ hard work to raise money.

College-bound students are able to take AP classes and earn college credit because of the levy with many students graduating early with their degrees.

These are the reasons I have supported past levies. Now, we have the chance to make the levy permanent. This will just keep the levy at the current amount. This will also save money. The county will save money by not holding elections. The school district will be able to attract and retain top talent because educators will not have to worry about losing their jobs every two years.
