Weather cancels cross country

The Columbia Falls cross-country team didn’t compete last week, due to snow and bad weather east of the Divide. The meet in Helena was canceled as was the junior varsity meet in Browning.

The teams will be back in action at the Western A Classic divisional meet hosted by Corvallis in Hamilton this Saturday.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
