- Idaho Sens. Risch and Crapo, along with 29 of their Senate colleagues, have requested that any end-of-year legislation include at least a two-year reauthorization of the Payments in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) and the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act (SRS) programs. As part of a broader effort to ensure long-term financial stability for rural counties containing large swaths of federal lands, six senators recently introduced legislation that would reauthorize the PILT program for 10 years.

- The business leaders portion of Coeur d’Alene School District’s ‘Portrait of a Graduate’ is coming up at noon on Nov. 4, at the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce. The Portrait project has gone through several rounds of scrutiny this year and aims to provide information for a 5-year strategic plan to be written for the school district and to facilitate recommendations resulting from a curriculum audit that was conducted early this year.
