Temporary closure of Johnson Creek access site

In an effort to restore an alluvial area along Lake Pend Oreille’s northeastern shore and the Clark Fork River, the Johnson Creek access site at the Clark Fork Delta closed this week.
The area will be open again next spring, according to Idaho Fish and Game.
The closure is necessary to provide the contractor a location to stage supplies and equipment. In addition to delta restoration, upgrades including boat ramp widening, parking and bank stabilization will proceed at the Johnson Creek site.
The Clark Fork drift yard access site will remain open until Feb. 1 and will provide the nearest alternate access point for launching watercraft.
Planning, design, and environmental documentation for the Clark Fork Delta Restoration Project began in 2014. The project was divided into three phases; construction of Phase 1 of the project was completed in 2015, Phase 2 of the project is now underway, and the final work is set to be completed in about 10 years.
The primary goal is to improve and restore important riparian and wetland habitats.
