Tupea fuels Cards' sweep of Columbia Basin

COEUR d’ALENE — Journey Tupea had 11 kills and 13 digs for North Idaho College in a 25-19, 25-23, 25-13 sweep of the Columbia Basin Hawks of Pasco in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Christianson Gymnasium on Wednesday.

Hannah McPhetridge had 10 klls and three digs, Lake City High product Chloe Knudson nine kills and seven digs, Kynzey Mitzel 21 digs and Hokulea Vargas 39 assists and seven digs for NIC (21-3, 10-0 NWAC), which travels to Walla Walla on Friday.

Columbia Basin is 13-16, 2-7.

YAKIMA, Wash. — Lakeland High product Sofi Schnepf scored in the 32nd minute for the Cardinals in a Northwest Athletic Conference draw with the Yaks.

Kaysha Bailey had 12 saves for NIC (7-4-4, 5-3-2 NWAC, 17 points), which travels to Wenatchee Valley on Saturday at noon. The Cardinals are one point behind Yakima Valley for fourth and trail Spokane by four points for third in the East Region. The top three teams in each region advance to the NWAC playoffs starting Nov. 6.

Lakeland High product Makayla Higbee had a shot on goal for Yakima Valley (9-3-3, 5-2-3, 18 points).
