Warden City Council hears report

WARDEN — Crack sealing has been happening in Warden, was the report from Warden Public Works Director Don Edson during a regular city council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Public Works has also been testing fire hydrants and preparing equipment for winter.
Warden City Administrator Kriss Shuler told the council that the work for the West Warden Lift Station number four. The city has completed the assessments with Washington Potato for Warden Lift Station number two. A walk through has been completed for the construction project on West 8th Street to ensure that everything has been completed and that problems have been corrected.
Shuler also reported that the annual insurance audit had been completed.
“We had no issues,” Shuler said.
Each year, the insurance authority looks at a different part of the city. They look for issues that need corrected or at areas that could use improvement.
“This year, they did Public Works,” Shuler said.
No issues were found.

OTHELLO — About 45 years ago, four volunteer firefighters decided to make Christmas food and gift baskets and give them to seven families who needed some extra help. The next year, they gave baskets to more families. In the years since, the Othello Community Christmas Baskets has become a city-wide event with various groups raising money, food, warm clothes and toys for Othello families in need.
