Guinan is the conservative candidate we need
Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 6 years, 10 months AGO
In 2002, we moved to western Washington to care for my aging mother. Large in size, but small in its rural population, Jefferson County is similar to Bonner. The largest population density is in the hub of county government which became a political juggernaut in just a few short years.
In two election cycles the entire town council was controlled by liberal Democrats. Not long after that their influence and activist supporters used the at large voting process to turn the board of county commissioners from all Republican to all Democrat.
Taxes went up, jobs went away and Obama hysteria crashed the economy. Two-hundred-and-fifty feet was taken from all properties fronting the coast, lakes, rivers streams and even ponds for environmental buffer zones. New home construction was all but halted and those that are built are not allowed to have more than two baths and no outdoor hose bibs for irrigation or car washing.
Franchise businesses were banned. Funds are spent on non-descript statuary. Sanctuary city status and an open-door homeless policy are drawing nonproductive people.
Hostility between rural and urban dwellers and character assassination from the only local paper resulted in a reluctance for conservatives considering a run for office. Many folks travel out of county for shopping and employment to avoid visiting the county seat, creating a tax revenue drain.
Although I don’t live in Sandpoint, I am all in for supporting conservative candidates to see that this doesn’t happen here. I’m urging support for Jacque Guinan.
