Shuttle service applies to operate at Spokane location

A shuttle service is seeking city approval to operate out of a building on Spokane Avenue.

Gary Schram and Kurt Schram have applied for an administrative conditional use permit with the City of Whitefish to establish a professional office in a building at 541 Spokane Avenue, just south of Pleasant Chiropractic.

Kurt Schram last spring began running Whitefish Shuttle, offering a bike and hiker shuttle service to trails in the Flathead Valley.

They have applied for the CUP to use the building for their professional office or personal service for the business. The building would be used for an office and could in the future expand to include bicycle services, according to the application with the city.

The property is zoned high density multi-family residential and includes businesses to both the north and south.

There will be six parking spaces on the site, along with one parking spot inside a garage.

The Schrams says that the proposed use should have minimal affect on the adjacent property owners.

“There will be minimal traffic generation and/or infiltration of traffic into this neighborhood,” the application notes. “We pick up our guests from their hotels/lodging, so we will leave in the early a.m., and return in the p.m.”

The complete application may be reviewed at the Whitefish Planning and Building Department at City Hall, at 418 E. 2nd Street.

Comments concerning the request are accepted at the Whitefish Planning and Building Department by Wednesday, Oct. 30. Following that date, Whitefish Zoning Administrator David Taylor will make a decision on the application.

If concerns can’t be mitigated through conditions of approval or the granting of the permit would “adversely or injuriously affect a personal or legal interest,” then the application may be sent to the Planning Board and City Council for final approval
