Lucille F. Daly, 90

Lucille F. Daly was called by our heavenly Father to heaven, on Oct. 15, 2019. Lucille was 90 years old and was a longtime resident of Coeur d’Alene. She was born on March 3, 1929, in Aberdeen, S.D. Her parents were John Sitter and Effie Brown. She was the last of the Sitter generation.

She was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, having attended since 1976, and she attended Mass on a weekly basis.

Lucille grew up on a farm outside of Beebe, S.D., with her nine brothers and sisters. She milked cows and did other farm work throughout her growing-up years. As a child of the Great Depression, she learned the value of hard work and saving money to take care of a large family.

She was married to George H. Daly on Oct. 18, 1949, in Aberdeen. Because of George’s hay fever and asthma, they moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1954. George preceded her in death on July 8, 2015.

Lucille was a great homemaker and mother and enjoyed gardening, and crocheting afghans and baby hats which were given to newborn children in the Coeur d’Alene area. She raised four boys who learned to help around the house, and who also helped their father with projects which included working on cars and motorcycles.

Lucille is survived by Mark (Kerstin) Daly of Rathdrum, Idaho; Tim Daly of Palm Springs, Calif.; Archie (Shawna) Daly of Coeur d’Alene; four grandchildren: Christine (Brian) Horstketter of Spokane Valley, Wash.; Michael (Michelle) Daly of Mesa, Ariz.; Grace Daly of Portland, Ore., and Ben Daly of California. She also had seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Mike Daly, in 2009. Lucille had several nieces and nephews, many of whom still live in South Dakota.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with interment at the church to follow.

In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation should be made to St. Vincent De Paul of Coeur d’Alene in her name.
